West York Police are searching for a woman they say brandished a handgun at a youth who threw a rock at her car Friday night.

According to a Facebook post from the department, a juvenile threw a rock at a car in the first block of South Highland Avenue about 10:15 p.m.

The woman driving the car got out of the vehicle and brandished a handgun at the youth. She is described as black, possibly in her 30s, with dreadlocks and white glasses. Police say she was driving a purple Nissan sedan.

According to police, teens throwing rocks at cars in the borough has been an ongoing issue for the past few months. Several of them have been charged, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (717) 854-1975 or use the department's tip line at (717) 478-8477.
