  • Aaron Stewart, 29, admitted to York City Police that he hit his 2-year-old stepdaughter more than once, documents show.
  • According to a criminal complaint, Stewart hit the girl because she urinated in her pants multiple times.

A York City man beat his 2-year-old stepdaughter because he believed she was urinating in her underwear on purpose while her mother was at work, a criminal complaint filed Tuesday by the York City Police Department said.

Aaron Lamont Stewart, 29, 216 W. Maple St., is charged with aggravated assault on a victim less than 6 years old and simple assault.

The incident took place May 15, according to the complaint. Police were notified two days later and conducted three subsequent interviews with Stewart.

During the first interview, he denied hitting the girl. Over the next two interviews he said he spanked her once, and then admitted to hitting her more than once because he "lost his patience" when she — he believed — intentionally urinated in her underwear multiple times, the complaint said.

York County's most wanted

While taking the complaint, officers noted a bump and bruise to the girl's right forehead, a bruise on her left cheek, scratches and bruises to her back and lower extremities and bruises to her buttocks. Photos were taken to document the injuries, and she received a forensic medical exam at York Hospital, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, the girl's mother, Jasmine Estrella, said the injuries were not present when she left for work the morning of May 15. When she got home that night, she noticed the bumps and bruises, but she did not file the report until May 17.

Stewart was the only person who had access to the victim during the time Estrella was at work, she told the police.

A warrant has been issued for Stewart's arrest.
