York City Police: Two shot in city Saturday evening
- A man and woman shot in York City Saturday night will recover, York City Police said.
- The victims were able to drive themselves to York Hospital and were cooperative with investigators, officials said.
Two people were shot in York City Saturday night in the area of West College Avenue, according to police.
Keyla Colon-Rivera, 21, and Heriberto Colon-Rivera, 24, were injured in a shooting incident that took place at 6:29 p.m. in the 200 block of West College Ave. on Saturday, Lt. Troy Bankert said. The victims were driven by personal vehicle to York Hospital for treatment, he added.
"She had a laceration to her head, but we're not sure whether that came from a bullet or not," Bankert said. "And he was hit in the torso . . . his injuries were not life-threatening."
Bankert said both victims, whose relation to one another was not clear, were being cooperative, but were understandably shaken by the incident.
"They told us what occurred, but they didn't tell us who shot them," he said. "And that is not uncommon, given the trauma they just went through."
He said a lot of times victims are willing to talk with the police, but are unable to get the whole story out before they shut down or "go blank," he said.
"They just weren't able to tell us the whole story," Bankert said.
So far police have no suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the York City Police at 717-846-1234. Callers may also report crimes anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 717-755-TIPS. Those offering tips resulting in an arrest and conviction are eligible for a cash reward.
