Two Turkey Hill locations robbed in two days
- York City Police said similarities exist between two armed robberies at Turkey Hill locations over the weekend but did not say they were connected.
- Turkey Hill stores in York City and Dover Township were robbed in the early morning hours Friday and Saturday, respectively.
- The Northern York County Regional Police Department said the two robberies are being investigated separately.
Local police agencies admit a pair of armed robberies at Turkey Hill locations in York City and Dover Township over the weekend share similarities, but they are not saying the two instances are necessarily connected.
In the first robbery — at 2:45 a.m. Friday at the Turkey Hill at 1242 E. Market St. — a white man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and armed with a silver revolver entered the store and robbed the clerk of cash and cigarettes, according to a York City Police Department news release.
The incident took place about 24 hours before a similar robbery at 4:46 a.m. Saturday at the Turkey Hill at 2820 Carlisle Road in Dover Township. That robber wore a baseball umpire's face mask and a T-shirt and had removable sleeves pulled up over both forearms to cover tattoos, according to a news release.
He, too, carried a silver revolver and demanded money and cigarettes, the release said.
In the Dover Township robbery, the man also took an undetermined amount of $20 lottery tickets, but he left without taking the pack of Newport cigarettes he'd demanded.
York City Police Lt. Troy Bankert, who heads the department's detective bureau, said via email Tuesday the robberies were similar in nature.
Northern York County Regional Police said Monday the Dover robber might have had a car waiting nearby on Grandview Avenue. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and an unknown number of lottery tickets but left the cigarettes behind, Northern Regional Lt. David Lash said.
Lash said the two incidents were not being actively investigated as though they are connected, but he did not rule out the possibility.
"I guess it's possible," Lash said.
York City Police did not specify in which direction the robber fled or whether he was on foot or had a car waiting.
