  • York City police say Joseph Dallas stabbed a woman in the thigh with an 8-inch serrated knife.
  • Court documents say the woman had a protection order issued against Dallas before the alleged assault.

Police have charged a York City man who they say stabbed a woman in the thigh during a domestic dispute Tuesday night.

According to the charging documents, Joseph Dallas, 56, of 748 W. Philadelphia St., violated a protection order a woman had issued against him when he assaulted and then stabbed her during a fight.

York City Police were called to Dallas' home at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday and found a woman alone inside who said Dallas had assaulted her, the documents said. She told the officers Dallas had her pinned in the hallway against the closet with his left forearm against her neck. While holding her there, Dallas allegedly told her, "I'll break your neck," the documents said.

The victim then showed the officers where she had been stabbed. The officer described the wound as being on the back of the woman's left thigh, according to the documents.

An 8-inch, black-handled, stainless steel knife with a serrated blade was found at the scene. The tip of the knife had a trace amount of blood on it, the documents said.

Dallas is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault, according to the documents.
