York City Police: One wounded, one dead in Tuesday night shooting

A person was found dead in the basement of a York City residence following shooting situation late Tuesday night, York City Police said.

Police responded about 11:45 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of South Albemarle Street, where officers found the victim at a neighbor's house, according to a department news release.

The victim had nonlife-threatening injuries and told police the suspect was in another residence and armed, according to the release.

"Officers surrounded the house and observed the suspect moving inside of the residence," the release states.

The York County Quick Response Team responded, entered the residence and found "the known suspect" deceased in the basement, according to the release. The York County Coroner's Office was also called to the scene.
