A teenager was shot during an argument Wednesday in York City, according to police.

York City Police said in a news release that the boy, 17, of York City, was shot in the leg in the 100 block of East Clarke Avenue about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The teen told police he was approached by an unknown man when the two began arguing, according to the release.

Officer Derek Hartman, the department's spokesman, said the victim told investigators that the unidentified man pulled a gun on him.

The two began struggling over the gun, and police said a shot was fired during the incident. The 17-year-old was shot in the leg, police said.

The teen was taken to York Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday, Oct. 10, the release states.

Police recovered the gun at the scene.
