Two York City firefighters who died in the line of duty last year will be honored next month in Maryland.

Ivan Flanscha and Zachary Anthony will be honored Sunday, Oct. 6, during the 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Flanscha, 50, and Anthony, 29, were killed March 22, 2018, when part of the former Weaver Piano & Organ Co. building at 127 N. Broad St. gave way. The structure had burned much of the previous day and the firefighters were putting out remaining hot spots.

They are among 119 firefighters who died in the line of duty who will be honored that day, according to a news release from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Their names will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, the release states.

The service, which is open to the public, will start at 10 a.m.

Earlier this month, Flanscha and Anthony were honored at the International Association of Fire Fighters Memorial Service in Colorado.
