A bridge replacement on Route 425 will cause temporary closures in southeastern York County.

Starting Monday, Sept. 9, the bridge connecting Route 425 (Furnace Road) over Sawmill Run in eastern Chanceford Township will be closed for up to 46 days, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Construction crews are expecting to replace the existing bridge with a concrete box culvert.

During repairs, a detour will be set up that follows Route 425 to Hogtown Road, Goram Road and Route 74 before meeting up with Route 425 again.

Crews are expecting to finish repairs by Oct. 25, the release states.

The work is the second part of a $1.2 million contract for Kinsley Construction Inc. that also included the replacement of another bridge on Route 425 in Fawn Township that was completed in June.
