Project will nearly double size of Manchester Crossroads shopping center
Work is underway at Manchester Crossroads, located just off Route 30 in Manchester Township, to nearly double the size of the shopping center, North Mall Associates manager Karen Martin said.
Old Navy, one of the tenants at 351 Loucks Road, is staying, but it’s moving into a smaller store, Martin confirmed. It will soon relocate into the new addition, she added.
“The shell being built now is 24,900 square feet — the permit for the build-out of one store is for 12,600 square feet — (and) the remaining space can be configured in any number of ways to accommodate one store or multiple stores,” Manchester Township zoning officer Stewart Olewiler said.
The number of stores available for occupancy has “yet to be determined,” he added.
Once construction is done, Martin continued, then North Mall Associates will have 60,000 square feet “available to divide.”
Manchester Crossroads lost the electronics and appliance retailer hhgregg last year, when the company announced it would close 88 stores across the country.
Martin said mall representatives are seeking the same kinds of tenants they have always tried to attract: retail, food and entertainment businesses.
“The Crossroads has been a central location to have one store in the York area,” Martin said. “It’s situated on (Route) 30 near I-83. If someone wants one store in York, it would be ideal to have it here instead of having an east-end or west-end location.”
The Manchester Township Board of Supervisors two years ago “conditionally approved” the expansion and renovation, Olewiler said. According to meeting minutes, the new building is “along the west side of the existing structure.”
When asked if any specific business has expressed an interest in space at Manchester Crossroads, Martin said she “cannot disclose any other information at this time.”
