WellSpan doctor involved in N.J. crash dies from injuries
A WellSpan doctor injured in a car crash in New Jersey died Sunday, Sept. 30, according to a public web page maintained by her family.
Dr. Ann Ramage was critically injured in the head-on crash in Middle Township, New Jersey, near Wildwood, on Saturday, Aug. 4.
She was 64 when the crash occurred.
Ramage was initially taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and later transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, according to the GoFundMe page set up by her family.
"There is no easy way to start this update when words fail to express the intense heartache our family feels at this difficult time," a family member posted to the website on Sunday.
The post said Ramage died at 1:41 p.m. that afternoon.
Her husband of more than 30 years, Rich Berkoski, said the family is still working on service arrangements.
"My wife was here for years, and she's really touched a lot of people," he said.
Berkoski said he's afraid that with Ramage's passing, there will be a lot of holes in people's hearts.
"She's truly one of a kind," he said.
"The York community will experience the loss of her professional presence for more than three decades," the statement read. "She still had such life left in her years and we are all gravely disappointed there were not years left in her life."
Background: Ramage had been on vacation with her family in early August when the crash occurred.
Middle Township Police said that Ramage, 64, and Roberta Blasdell, 65, were injured when a 73-year-old Collingswood, New Jersey, woman crashed into their car Saturday, Aug. 4.
Soon after the crash, Berkoski had said their family was on their way back to the York area after a vacation. He said his wife stopped at a craft show with Blasdell, a family friend.
According to police, Elizabeth MacNamara, 73, was traveling south on Court House-South Dennis Road when her vehicle, a 2016 Honda CRV, went into the northbound lane of travel and struck a 2011 Ford Escape head-on.
MacNamara was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ramage's WellSpan profile states that she specialized in family medicine.
WellSpan spokesman Dan Carrigan had said in August that Ramage had worked for WellSpan for 19 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to Katallasso Family Health Center, in York City, or to the family's GoFundMe account at www.gofundme.com/support-for-dr-ann-ramage to help pay for funeral expenses.
