Coroner: Sprint car driver killed in BAPS Motor Speedway crash
The York County Coroner's Office has identified the driver killed in a crash at BAPS Motor Speedway in Newberry Township Thursday night.
The coroner's office said in a news release that Hoyt Gregory Hodnett, who went by Greg, of Jackson Township died in a crash during a race at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.
The news release states that Hodnett, 49, lost control of his vehicle in turn one of the race, which caused him to crash into a wall at high speed. What caused the crash is still under investigation.
The crash, according to the coroner's office, was reported with rollover.
The coroner's office said Hodnett, who was restrained at the time, died on impact at the scene.
An autopsy at Lehigh Valley Hospital has been scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Sept. 22.
