Update: The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning in York County until 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10. York County will remain under a flood watch until 8 p.m.

The weather service said that under the watch there is a possibility of flooding along regional streams and creek, and normal, low-lying areas.

Previous: York County is under a flood warning along with the rest of central Pennsylvania on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Heavy rains are expected to add another inch by afternoon to the 2-3 inches of rain the area has gotten over the past several days, according to the National Weather Service.

Flooding is expected at small streams and in areas with poor drainage, the NWS said.

The flood warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m Sunday.

A flood watch is also in effect through Monday evening, the NWS said.

Drivers are reminded to not drive through standing water, as only a few inches of water is needed to wash vehicles away. Also, the amount of rain the region has received recently has damaged and in some cases destroyed roadways and bridges.
