Wagner campaign consultant shares meme mocking trans people in text

The York Dispatch

A reporter with an online news organization was accidentally included in a group text sharing a lewd meme with a group of Scott Wagner's campaign officials.

Billy Penn reporter Max Marin was accidentally included in a text sent from Ray Zaborney, a consultant with Wagner's gubernatorial campaign, to Jason High, Wagner’s campaign manager; Jenise Harris, the campaign’s finance director; Shauna Boscaccy, policy director, according to Billy Penn.

The text showed a meme of transgender television personality Caitlyn Jenner in the style of the recent Nike Colin Kaepernick ads, with text that seems to mock her gender transition.

None of the recipients responded to the meme in the group chat, according to Marin.

“Anyone questioning my commitment to diversity or the LGBT community obviously doesn’t know me very well,” Zaborney responded in a statement to Billy Penn. “I am a passionate believer in equality for all and have long been an advocate for marriage equality and ending discrimination in all forms against the LGBTQ community. I’m proud of my advocacy and proud of my efforts and will continue to stand for equality.”
