A football scrimmage scheduled for 5 p.m. for West York Area freshmen football at Lampeter-Strasburg has been changed to 6 p.m.

"As a safety precaution in higher temperature weather, the West York Area School District’s Athletics Dept. will be modifying sports practices at all levels to prevent heat-related illnesses," the website states.

For example, all teams will administer water breaks every 10 to 15 minutes, practice on campus unless traveling to an opponent's site with an available athletic trainer and practice in shorts and T-shirts only (for football.)

The athletic director and training staff will continue to monitor the weather conditions and practices.

Christian School of York posted on Facebook Wednesday afternoon that all sports practices are cancelled, except for girl's volleyball, because of excessive heat.

Faculty of the school emailed families, called logos and coaches and made announcements at school, according to the post.
