Pepperidge Farm: Salmonella fears prompt recall of Goldfish crackers
Pepperidge Farm has recalled one its most popular items: Goldfish crackers.
The company was notified by an ingredient supplier that whey powder in a seasoning applied to four varieties of crackers was recalled by the whey powder manufacturer because of the potential presence of salmonella, according to Pepperidge Farm's website.
There have been no illnesses reported, the company reported.
The following four varieties are subject to recall:
Flavor Blasted® Xtra Cheddar
Flavor Blasted® Sour Cream & Onion
Goldfish® Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar
Goldfish® Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel
Pepperidge Farm encouraged consumers not to eat the product if they purchased one of the four varieties. Also, the company said to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers can receive a refund online as long as they have the product's name, sell-by date and package code listed in the company's online chart, according to a Pepperidge Farm statement.
Consumers with questions may call customer service at 800-679-1791, 24 hours a day, for more information. Customer service specialists are available 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, the website reported.
No other Pepperidge Farm products were subject to the nationwide recall.
