Cultural Alliance of York County distributes nearly $600K to eight partner agencies
The Cultural Alliance of York County announced Friday how it is distributing $597,780, raised in the 18th annual “Bringing Arts and Culture to Life” campaign, to eight partner agencies.
The campaign funds the eight partner agencies and the Creative Impact Awards, which bring arts, history and culture to the people of York County, according to the Cultural Alliance.
Mary Anne Winkelman, president of the Cultural Alliance, said the unrestricted funds are the “hardest to get” and are “based on the scores of an all-volunteer review panel made up of” the alliance’s contributors.
“Every year, the Allocations Panel reviews each partner and scores their organizational and fiscal strength, leadership and support of the cultural sector,” she said. “As a result, the agencies receive constructive suggestions and recommendations as well as the all-important unrestricted cash that they use to keep their lights on and their operations funded. We are thrilled that our supporters and donors could make these unrestricted funds to our partners possible.”
The funding allocated to each partner is as follows:
- Appell Center for the Performing Arts: $286,089
- Creative York: $45,278
- Greater York Dance: $10,777
- York Art Association: $7,033
- York County History Center: $209,316
- York Junior Symphony Orchestra: $7,813
- York Symphony Orchestra: $27,047
- York Youth Symphony Orchestra: $4,427
According to a Cultural Alliance statement, the organization was founded as the United Arts Fund in 1999. Its annual campaign has granted $9.6 million cash and more than $2 million in-kind support since 2000.
