The company holds the top spot in its field.

It's the leading manufacturer in the world for specialized transport refrigeration, freezing and power-generation equipment, according to a news release.

Klinge was recognized for its achievements by the Small Business Administration Thursday, June 7.

SBA Eastern Pennsylvania director Antonio Leta called the company "an outstanding example of a small business that starts and grows through over 30 years of exporting success in the global market," in the news release.

It was a venture that also stayed in the family.

Henrik Klinge, director of the corporation, started working in the industry in 1971 before leading the company as owner and president in 1986. Allan Klinge eventually followed suit and took over his father's role.

"It's wonderful," Henrik Klinge stated on being named exporter of the year.

The corporation's reach goes far and wide, serving industries including pharmaceutical, chemical and dangerous goods, bulk liquids, seafood and meat processing, military and oil and gas.

Founded in 1984 as "a spin-off of the Transport Refrigeration Equipment Department of York International," the release states, Klinge has always had an international focus, exporting to more than 18 countries — which accounts for 80 percent of sales.

"Their strong competitive spirit and international approach is a model any multi-national would hope to emulate," stated Martin Brill, the program manager for International Trade at Kutztown University Small Business Development Center.

Brill nominated Klinge for the honor, based off a trusted reputation working with the center for more than 20 years.

“Their reputation for innovation, quality, customer service and on-time delivery is world class," he added.
