Preparatory work has begun on a project to repair and resurface a 4.1-mile section of Route 74.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that the work will run from Main Street Extended in Chanceford Township through the villages of Brogue and Collinsville to Fisher Road in Lower Chanceford Township.

Travelers may encounter single-lane restrictions with flaggers directing them through the work zone on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to a news release from PennDOT.

Crews will conduct surface milling and shoulder cutting and will replace a drainage cross pipe at the intersection with Muddy Creek Forks Road and Lucky Road. In addition, there will be roadway base repair, brush cutting, clearing of drainage swales and inlet boxes, and roadway resurfacing.

Work on this project is scheduled for completion by the end of September, according to the release.

To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.
