Give Local York sailed past its $1 million fundraising goal seven hours early, and by the stroke of midnight on Friday, May 4, it finished with almost $1.5 million in donations.

A total of $1,479,262 was raised during the 24-hour event from 9,404 gifts, according to the Give Local York website.

Several nonprofit organizations received more than $50,000 in donations.

Positive Energy Arts, which offers dance training to underserved students and communities, was a clear winner during the event, receiving $126,885 from only 15 donations.

No other organization came close to that amount, but second in line was the Katallasso Family Center, which received $56,885. Human Life Services received $55,232 in donations, and York Academy Regional Charter School received $56,110.
