York City's Box Lunch Revue, a staple of the downtown music scene for decades, will return this year with additional Wednesday performances in May.

The concert series will begin Tuesday, May 1, and the new season will be opened by the Central York middle and high school jazz bands.

In fact, the entire month of May will feature York County school bands, as the additional Wednesdays were made available to accommodate their schedules. The extra Wednesdays are funded through a grant from the Cultural Alliance of York County, according to a news release.

The annual event will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from May through August. The free musical entertainment is held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cherry Lane, according to the release.

Favorite performers from previous seasons will return along with the following new performers: the Logos Academy music department, Across the Pond, Dave Curley, Matthew Runciman, Suzi Brown, Caroline Rose, Scarlet Rose the Singer and Woody Lissauer.

The complete entertainment schedule is available at www.yorkcity.org/Boxlunchrevue or by calling 717-849-2217 for a printed schedule.
