Red Lion-area Weis reopens with beer, wine after remodel
A Red Lion-area Weis Markets was recently remodeled with additions including a beer and wine cafe.
The location at 693 Lombard Road, in York Township, celebrated its grand reopening Thursday, April 12, with a new service meat and seafood department, updated décor, a hot foods bar and increased organic variety, according to a news release.
Weis Markets spokesman Dennis Curtin said the renovations were not an expansion but a "total makeover," replacing an outdated look with a contemporary one and rearranging the layout to add additional floor space.
The store remained open during the remodel and relaunched with its new features this week, he said.
The beer and wine cafe opened March 28 — the 57th in-store beer-wine cafe in Pennsylvania and the seventh in York County, according to a Weis spokesperson.
It has 491 imported and domestic wines, including varieties from Pennsylvania vineyards, and a chilled section, the release states. Beer comes in 648 varieties of domestic, imported and craft beer, including those from York County breweries Liquid Hero Brewing and Wyndridge Farm Brewing.
Weis Markets also donated a total of $1,500 to local organizations For the Love of a Veteran, Yoe Fire Co. and Red Lion Area School District during its grand reopening, according to the release.
