Springettsbury Township to host annual water quality meeting
Springettsbury Township will host a 6 p.m. meeting Wednesday, April 18, at the township administration building, 1501 Mount Zion Road, to discuss its "ongoing efforts to improve the water quality" throughout the township.
Topics of discussion this year include overall program goals, the 2017 annual report, 2018 activities and volunteer opportunities, according to a township statement.
There will be an opportunity for residents to ask questions, make comments and share concerns, the statement reported.
Information gathered will be used to help craft the township's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System water quality management program, known as an MS4, the township explained.
The overall goal, according to the township, is "to reduce the quantity of pollutants that are picked up in the township's watersheds and then get deposited into area streams, creeks and rivers."
The plan is in "accordance with the Clean Water Act of 1965, and as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency," the township reported.
