Renovations are well underway for Gander Outdoors, set to replace the shuttered Gander Mountain store at West Manchester Town Center.

The characteristic green mountain logo, formerly extending from the roof of the building at 725 Town Center Drive, has been removed, and the free-standing structure is now painted beige with a blue stripe.

A quick glance inside revealed shelves and other furniture have been added, and workers said they hope to have the location open to customers this month.

Project managers will be posting regular updates on the site's Facebook page, Gander Outdoors (York).

The page's operators posted last month that the store is scheduled to open in mid- to late April, and it's still on schedule to open later this month according to a post Monday, April 2.

Several customers have expressed their enthusiasm for the project in comments on the page, with one saying, "We're excited to have a store like this back in York."

Gander Mountain assets were bought in bankruptcy court by Marcus Lemonis, Camping World Holdings' chairman and star of CNBC's "The Profit," last May.

Lemonis has a goal of opening 70 or more locations of the outdoor store, according to a wire report from January.

Gander Outdoors sells products related to activities such as hunting, fishing, marine and water sports, camping and active and shooting sports.

The York location is expected to employ up to 55 people in the 31,000-square-foot space.
