Yorktowne Hotel event to find local contractors rescheduled

York City's Get Connected to the Yorktowne networking event, which aims to find local contractors for its multi-milllion dollar hotel project, has been rescheduled for April 3.

The event was originally scheduled for March 20, but was canceled because of inclement weather.

York County Economic Alliance president and CEO Kevin Schreiber announced earlier this month that the alliance and the York County Industrial Development Authority, in partnership with construction manager Kinsley Construction, would host the event.

A rendering by AB Sketches shows how the Yorktowne Hotel will look when renovations are complete in late 2018 or early 2019.

Kinsley will give businesses information on how to be pre-qualified to meet their standards, and small businesses of all sizes and backgrounds will have the opportunity to connect with contractors to collaborate on the project.

“The Yorktowne Hotel Project is expected to be a $30 million plus investment, and we want to capture as much of that as possible for the benefit of York County firms, suppliers and contractors," said Jack Kay, chair of the YCIDA, in a news release.
 
Currently in the demolition phase, the project is expected to be on track to take bids by the summer. 

Get Connected to the Yorktowne will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Crispus Attucks Community Center, 605 S. Duke St., in York City.
