Bridge closures scheduled for southern York County
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced upcoming bridge closures for southeastern and southwestern York County.
Route 216: On Monday, April 2, the bridge on Route 216 at the Codorus and Manheim township line will be closed for up to 203 days so a contractor can begin demolition work to remove and replace the bridge, PennDOT said.
Milling and paving work also could be done after the bridge is opened to traffic, and that would be done under a short-term alternating single-lane traffic pattern, the release states.
Route 216 will be closed to traffic between Smoketown Road and Stone Church Road, and motorists can take a detour that follows Manheim Road and Glenville Road, according to the release.
Route 425: PennDOT also said in a news release that the bridge carrying Route 425 over Muddy Creek will close Monday, April 9, as crews begin to demolish the existing bridge superstructure at the line dividing Lower Chanceford, Fawn and Peach Bottom townships.
The bridge will be closed to traffic for up to six months, according to PennDOT. During that time, drivers can use a detour that follows Owad Road and Bridgeton Road, the release states.
Upcoming closures: Two other bridges will close for replacement. The Route 851 (Steltz Road) bridge over Swans Creek near the Pennsylvania-Maryland line in Shrewsbury Township will be closed in mid-May or June for up to 105 days, according to the release.
The Route 216 (Sticks Road) bridge over Pierceville Run in Codorus Township will be closed in spring 2019 and will be detoured for up to 173 days, the release states.
