Fugitive task force arrests man on York City rape charges
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a York County rape suspect Friday morning in Stewartstown.
Nathan Yankelov, 19, was wanted on charges of rape and other related offenses alleged to have occurred in York City, according to a news release.
Court records state the alleged offenses occurred Nov. 18.
Yankelov is charged with forcible compulsion, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent and indecent assault, according to records.
He was arrested Friday, March 16, without incident, in the 100 block of Crosstie Drive in Stewartstown and turned over to local authorities pending court proceedings, a news release states.
The investigation was a collaboration between the task force and members of the York City Police Department, York County District Attorney's Office, York County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania State Police and the Northern York County Regional Police Department.
“It is important to bring those charged with serious sex crimes to justice," U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane said. "It is my hope that the victim will find comfort knowing the alleged attacker is now in custody.”
Yankelov is being held on $150,000 bail at York County Prison, awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Ronald J. Haskell Jr. scheduled for April 2.
