Goats, dogs saved in Hanover fire
Multiple animals were saved following a fire in Hanover, according to officials.
Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Chief Tony Clousher said in a news release that three dogs, two birds and two goats were rescued from a two-story home in the 400 block of Highland Avenue on Monday, Feb. 12.
The fire, which was reported about 1 p.m., started in the rear porch area of the home and extended into a bathroom and the exterior wall, according to the release.
Firefighters were able to rescue the animals. The homeowner was not home during the fire.
Clousher said a neighbor held the fire at bay with a garden hose until officials arrived.
About $30,000 in damage was estimated for the property, and an additional $10,000 in damage was estimated for the contents inside the home.
No one was injured. The cause is still under investigation.
