York Fair announces first performers for 2018 lineup

The York Fair is ramping up for its annual festivities with a new crop of performers — this year boasting talent from a nationally renowned comedian to hit-making country and Christian musicians.
Fair organizers recently announced the first of the scheduled Grandstand of Stars performers for the 2018 fair, which runs Sept. 7-16.
Among those acts are comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias," contemporary Christian band MercyMe and Virginia-based country band Old Dominion.
Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias: Iglesias will be bringing his “One Show Fits All” World Tour to the grandstand at 8 p.m, Saturday, Sept. 8, according to a news release.
His stand-up comedy act incorporates storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects — a unique style that has garnered him sold-out crowds around the world and more then 350 million views on YouTube.
Popular with fans of all ages, Iglesias is one of the few comedians to headline and sell out Madison Square Garden in New York City and The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
He's also appeared in the feature film "A Haunted House 2" and lent his voice to animated features such as "Smurfs: The Lost Village" and Disney’s "Planes."
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 3, and range from $34-$49.
MercyMe: Triple-platinum contemporary Christian band MercyMe will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, a release states.
The band, which has been around for 23 years, sold 3 million copies of its "Almost There" album, which delivered the hit single "I Can Only Imagine." Their most recent No. 1, "Even If," sold 500,000 singles.
MercyMe was nominated for two Grammy Awards this year: "Even If" for best contemporary Christian music performance/song and "Lifer" for best contemporary Christian album.
Tickets for MercyMe go on sale Saturday, Feb. 3, for $15-30.
Old Dominion: Virginia-based country band Old Dominion will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, a news release states.
Old Dominion got their start writing songs for other big-name country music artists such as Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Tyler Farr, Sam Hunt and The Band Perry.
Their songwriting generated seven No. 1 hits.
Old Dominion broke out as a performing artists with the hit “Break Up With Him,” followed by “Snapback.”
"Snapback" became one of the top songs of the year, landing their album “Meat and Candy” at the top of the charts.
The band continues to generate hits with its second album, "Happy Endings," which produced No. 1 “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” and current single “Written in the Sand."
Tickets range from $34-49 and go on sale Saturday, Feb. 3.
