Coroner: York City man's death deemed suspicious
The death of a 73-year-old York City man found in his home Thursday has been deemed suspicious, according to a coroner's report.
Joel Michael, who lived in the first block of West Princess Street, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, according to the York County Coroner's Office.
Deputy Coroner Tania Zech was dispatched to the scene after Michael's body was discovered during a welfare check by police, the report states.
York City Police are investigating and consider the death to be possibly suspicious, the coroner's report said.
Michael could have been dead for several days before his body was discovered, according to the coroner's office.
The coroner's office reported that an autopsy was completed Saturday, Jan. 27, at Allentown's Lehigh Valley Hospital, where the cause of death was ruled as a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death remains in question.
