The York City Council is seeking candidates to fill a vacancy left by York City Mayor Michael Helfrich and one of two seats won in November's election by current council member Judy Ritter-Dickson.

The council is accepting resumes through noon Friday, Jan. 12, for terms ending Jan. 6, 2020.

To be eligible for the position, applicants must be at least 21 years old, be a city resident for at least one year and reside in the city throughout their term.

Candidates will be selected and contacted before the next committee meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, according to a news release.

Those selected will be asked to appear at the meeting to be interviewed by York City Council President Henry Nixon, Vice President Sandie Walker and Ritter-Dickson.

Following the interviews, the council will recess its committee meeting and convene a special session to vote on appointing two new members to the council.

All deliberations concerning the board vacancies, as well as other city matters, will occur at the city’s council chambers at 101 S. George St.
