A man getting his mail in Conewago Township was struck by a car and killed, according to officials.

Northern York County Regional Police say 77-year-old Lewis C. Krone Sr. was crossing the street in the 600 block of East Canal Road about 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the westbound lane.

Krone was struck by a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Mark Moline, 53, of Dover, as he was driving home from work, police said. The York County Coroner's Office said the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Krone, of  the 600 block of East Canal Road, was crossing the street to get his mail when he was struck, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The coroner's office said Krone's cause of death was multiple-blunt force trauma, with the manner accidental. There will not be an autopsy.
