The York County Coroner's Office has identified the motorcyclist killed Thursday, Dec. 7, in Hellam Township.

Jacob Billet, 61, of Chelsea Way in Hellam Township, reportedly was riding west on Kreutz Creek Road just before 5 p.m. when he collided with a Jeep near the westbound Route 30 ramp, the coroner's office stated in a news release.

The driver of the Jeep did not see Billet as it began to grow dark "and also because the motorcycle did not have its lights on," according to the release.

The driver crossed the intersection into the path of Billet's motorcycle, which collided with the SUV, the coroner's office states.

Billet, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle, according to the coroner's office.

The condition of the driver was unknown Friday morning, but they did not appear at the scene to have life-threatening injuries, the coroner's office release states.
