Burger King restaurants to support local food bank
A local Burger King franchisee is hosting a holiday food drive at six of its locations in support of the York County Food Bank.
GPS Hospitality will collect nonperishable food items at its restaurants while hosting a Community Appreciation Week from Monday, Dec. 11, through Friday, Dec. 15, in support of the food bank, according to a news release.
Each night of the appreciation week will have its own theme, with Medium Coffee Monday, Whopper Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday and Fry Friday.
GPS Hospitality will host York County Food Bank Night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, with the franchisee donating 20 percent of sales at its six restaurants to the food bank, 254 W. Princess St. in York City.
On Dec. 15, GPS Hospitality will present the York County Food Bank with a check worth at least $1,000 from the fundraising event.
The York County Food Bank accepts all donations but is in particular need of canned vegetables and fruits, canned and boxed meals, canned or dried beans and peas, pasta, rice, low-sugar cereals, peanut butter, baby formula and baby foods, according to the release.
Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at these participating Burger King locations:

- 2400 Mount Rose Ave., Springettsbury Township
- 2199 White St., West Manchester Township
- 498 Renaissance Drive, Hopewell Township
- 1160 Carlisle St., Penn Township
- 801 Baltimore St., Penn Township
