York stores' Black Friday hours

With another year comes another holiday shopping season, kicking off with the rush of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Downtown York shoppers Maria Vasquez and Tashina McKily, both of Manchester Township, are planning on hitting the big stores such as Walmart, Toys R Us and Target on Black Friday, which they do every year.

Christy Chiaro, of North Codorus Township, has a different opinion.

"I don't do that day," she said about Black Friday. "Never."

She and Dover Township friend Mary Culbertson enjoy shopping at small businesses, however, and Chiaro plans to be out and about on Small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday.

Following Thanksgiving weekend, shoppers can take advantage of online deals on Cyber Monday and have the opportunity to give back to charities and nonprofits on Giving Tuesday.
