DUI checkpoints, patrols scheduled for holiday week
Sobriety checkpoints and roving DUI patrols are scheduled to happen in York County some time over the next 10 days, according to the Center for Traffic Safety.
The checkpoints and patrols will be held through 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27.
According to a news release from the center, Thanksgiving is the No. 1 holiday in terms of crashes, injuries and deaths.
Last year, there were 3,962 crashes statewide, resulting in 38 deaths, the release states. Of those crashes, 470 were impaired-driver crashes, which caused 15 deaths, according to the release.
The Thanksgiving week enforcement effort marks the start of "Operation Safe Holiday," which is a campaign which targets impaired driving, aggressive driving and people not wearing seat belts.
The enforcement also will take place in Adams and Lancaster counties.
