One person was shot and killed in York City on Sunday afternoon.

York City Police said Jamie Weimert, 29, of York, was shot at least once just after 4 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of East Philadelphia Street and North Pine Street. Weimert died in the ambulance on the way to York Hospital, police said.

Michael Yeaple, 27, of the York area, was taken into custody and questioned by York City detectives, city police said in a news release.

Yeaple was later released, police said.

Police on the scene said the incident appeared to be between two vehicles, a red Dodge Journey belonging to the suspect and a gray Ford pickup belonging to the victim.

Multiple other people were inside the vehicles involved, including children, police said.

The incident is being investigated by city police sand the York County District Attorney's Office, police said in the news release.
