York County businesses offer gifts, deals for veterans
York County businesses are showing their support for veterans by offering gifts and discounts for Veterans Day.
Royer’s Flowers & Gifts, a Lebanon-based company with stores in York County, will be giving out free red, white and blue bouquets to veterans who come into stores on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11.
Fadely's Auto Masters and Automotive of York (NAPA) will hold a special event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, when veterans and military personnel (with proof of ID) can stop by its 3177 W. Market St. location in West Manchester Township for free service and food.
They will receive a certificate for free oil, lube and filter plus fall and winter check, according to a news release.
Turkey Hill locations will give a free 16-ounce coffee or cappuccino to active, inactive and retired military personnel on Nov. 11, and a free Ultimate Wash car wash service at available locations. To find a car wash location, visit turkeyhillstores.com.
Heritage Hills Golf Resort's restaurants, including Knickers Pub, oak. Restaurant, Bogey Macaws and Loxley's Restaurant, will offer 50 percent off of food purchases and a free breakfast buffet (at Knicker's and Loxley's) on Nov. 11. Locations include Springettsbury Township and York Township. Reservations are recommended, and a valid military ID is required.
Heritage Hill restaurants will also begin offering daily discounts of 15 percent off any food purchase for all veterans with a valid military ID. The offer will start on Nov. 12 and will continue year-round.
Sheetz locations will provide veterans and active duty military personnel with a free 6-inch turkey sub and regular size fountain drink on Nov. 11. Free car washes will also be offered at locations where available. Customers must show a military ID or proof of service.
Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar will give away a free "Almost Famous" sandwich to all veterans and active duty military with ID on Saturday, Nov. 11. The restaurant has locations across Pennsylvania, including one in York Township at 2151 S. Queen St.
Veterans and active-duty military personnel with ID can choose between six free breakfast, lunch or dinner meals at Bob Evans locations on Nov. 11. Breakfast items will be available all day.
Accepted identification at Bob Evans includes a U.S. Uniformed Services (current or retired) identification card, a current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), a Veterans’ organization card, or appearance in uniform.
Quaker Steak & Lube, which has a location at 1411 Kenneth Road in West Manchester Township, will have free or discounted meals for veterans and active military at participating locations on Nov. 11.
Deals vary by location, and proof of ID must be shown before ordering. The restaurant will also have symbolic Fallen Soldiers Tables at participating locations to honor military heroes who have died.
Accepted forms of identification at Quaker Steak & Lube include a U.S. Uniform Services retired ID card, veterans organization card, photograph in uniform, appearance in uniform, DD214, citation or commendation.
Texas Roadhouse, which has locations in Hanover and Springettsbury Township, will be honoring veterans for the seventh year running on Nov. 11. Active, retired or former United States military will have the choice of one of 10 entrees between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides, as well as a Coca-Cola product, iced tea or coffee.
Proof of service, such as military ID, VA card or discharge papers, is required.
