A Springettsbury Township man is accused of stabbing a co-worker in the head because he thought the man stole his visa, according to police.

Jose Lozano-Herrera allegedly stabbed a man during the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 28, at their workplace, United Natural Foods, 225 Cross Farm Lane, in Conewago Township.

Lozano-Herrera, 31, of the 3200 block of East Market Street, is charged with attempted third-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Altercation: According to Northern York County Regional Police, Lozano-Herrera approached another man while he was pulling an order in the warehouse and accused him of stealing his visa.

The man denied stealing the card, and police say Lozano-Herrera pulled out a large knife and attempted to stab his co-worker in the neck. The man turned his head, which caused the knife to slash the left side of his head and face, court documents allege.

The victim turned and ran, and Lozano-Herrera chased him, swinging the knife and saying he was going to kill him, police said.

A witness told police that the victim was yelling for help and saying, "He is trying to cut me," according to court documents.

The victim ran to a supervisor's office, and other employees intervened and stopped Lozano-Herrara, documents state.

Another employee calmed Lozano-Herrera down and took the knife away from him, police said.

A serrated knife, with a stainless steel blade and black handle with a small amount of blood on it, was recovered at the scene, documents state. The knife is about 9 inches long, according to police.

While speaking to police, Lozano-Herrera said "he did it" but refused to provide details of the incident, court documents state.

Lozano-Herrera was taken to central booking, where he was arraigned on the charges and sent to York County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.
