York Democrats to host local, state judicial candidates Friday

The Democratic Party of York County will hold its 18th annual Gov. George M. Leader Dinner on Friday, Oct. 6.

The event will feature statewide judicial candidates for the Pennsylvania Superior Court, Supreme Court and Commonwealth Court as well as local candidates running in the 2018 election.

State Democratic candidates scheduled to appear are:

Superior Court: Judge Carolyn Nichols, Judge Debbie Kunselman, Judge Maria McLaghlin and Judge Geoff Moulton

Supreme Court: Justice Debra Todd and Ryan Smith (representing Judge Dwayne Woodruff)

Commonwealth Court: Judge Irene Clark and Judge Ellen Ceisler

York County candidates Maribel Burgos (recorder of deeds), Sandra Thompson (Court of Common Pleas) and Clara Anderson (representing Mayor Kim Bracey) will  be in attendance.

The first Mayor Elizabeth Marshall Lifetime Service Award will be presented at the dinner, according to a news release from the Democratic Party of York County.

Marshall, elected in 1977, was the first female mayor of York.

Former Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards, who served from 2008-2017, is giving a keynote speech.
