Fire at York City salvage yard was intentional, officials say
An 11-vehicle fire at a salvage yard in York City on Sunday afternoon was intentional, according to York City fire officials.
Fire officials were dispatched at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, to Baughman's U-Pull-It on Eberts Lane in York City after a report of “heavy smoke” rising from the scrapyard, according to York City Assistant Fire Chief Edwin Hamilton.
York City Fire Department and York Area United Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze.
The fire was put out within 20 minutes, according to Hamilton.
York City Fire Chief David Michaels said the blaze was intentionally set.
No employees were working in the area where the fire happened, leading fire officials to believe the fire was intentional, according to Hamilton
York City Police are investigating the incident.
