Eastern York Middle School evacuated again for bomb threat
The Eastern York Middle School was evacuated for the third bomb threat in a week, according to the district.
The district post on its website shortly after noon Friday, Sept. 22, that a note claiming a bomb was in the building was found on the wall in the boy's bathroom. The students were escorted the Eastern York High School.
The district said at 2 p.m. that police determined the middle school is safe for students to return. Students not picked up earlier by parents or guardians will be dismissed at normal dismissal time at the middle school.
All sports and activities at the middle school are canceled for the evening.
Previous threats: The middle school students were evacuated to the high school Monday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 15, as well.
In those situations, bomb threats were found in a middle school bathroom, the district has said.
Lower Windsor Township Police and York County Sheriff's K-9 Department searched the school, and it was discovered that the threat was not credible, according to a notice written by the school's principal.
Students were evacuated and sent to the high school, where they were dismissed at the normal time.
Last school year there were four bomb threats made at the middle school in less than one week.
The threats were made on four separate days in September 2016, the district has said.
