Bomb threat prompts Eastern York Middle School evacuation

A bomb threat caused the evacuation at Eastern York Middle School Friday, Sept. 15, according to a notice posted on Eastern York School District's website.

The threat, found written on a wall in a student bathroom, caused the district to move the middle-schoolers to Eastern York High School at 1:15 p.m., the district said.

Police were dispatched to the scene and determined all middle school students would be dismissed from the high school at normal dismissal time.

Parents who pick up their children could do so at the high school's performing arts center entrance on the lower level at building 24, which is off of Cool Creek Road, the district said.

The district said Friday that law enforcement checked the building and determined it was safe.

Because police were investigating the incident, students were not allowed to retrieve personal items from the middle school.

2016: Last school year there were four bomb threats made at the middle school in less than a one-week period.
