Penn State York on delay, York City school closed after storm

Tuesday evening's strong thunderstorms that caused power outages for many homes and businesses is continuing to affect two area schools Thursday, Sept. 7.

Penn State York closed its campus on Wednesday, Sept. 6, after a power outage that started in the M.S. Grumbacher Information Sciences and Technology Center eventually spread to other buildings on campus, according to spokeswoman Barbara Dennis.

After a later-than-expected restoration, the school will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, Sep. 7, according to Dennis.

York City School District's William C. Goodridge Academy on Lindberg Avenue in York City was closed on Thursday, Sept. 7, due to cleanup efforts from Tuesday's storm, according to the district's website.

Classes at Goodridge were dismissed at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 due to a power outage caused by Tuesday's storm, according to the district's website.
