York County under tornado, severe t-storm warnings

Update: The severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings for York County have expired, according to the National Weather Service. The severe thunderstorm watch has also been ended.

Previous: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for York County as a strong storm moves across southcentral and eastern Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon.

A tornado warning has also been issued for northwestern York County after radar indicated rotation in the storm, according to the National Weather Service office in State College.

The storm is expected to move through Dillsburg about 4:30 p.m. and hit Dover about 4:40 p.m.

The tornado warning will end at 4:45 p.m., while the severe thunderstorm warning will remain in effect until 5:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service office in State College.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch at 3:25 p.m. but upgraded it to a warning less than 30 minutes later.

Nickel-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph have been reported, while the National Weather Service is expecting the storm to cause damage to trees and power lines, according to the warning.
