A pipeline replacement project in Hanover could affect traffic, according to a release from Columbia Gas.

The company announced Wednesday, Aug. 30, that a pipeline is being replaced on Third Street in Hanover.

The project will replace more than 4,100 feet of pipelines on Third Street, Columbia Gas said.

The project involves pipelines along Third Street between Jefferson Street and High Street, along Filbert Street between Third Street and South Street, and on surrounding streets, which include Madison, High and South streets, according to the release.

The work could cause temporary lane closures during work hours. Construction will take place from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional work happening Saturdays. The company did not say how long the project will take.

While work is happening, there will be a temporary interruption of natural gas service to some customers, and those with indoor meters will have the meters relocated to outside the premises, Columbia Gas said.

The customers whose service will be interrupted will be contacted by Columbia Gas before the interruption to schedule restoration of service.
