Several York County police departments have events planned Tuesday, Aug. 1, for "National Night Out," an effort to strengthen relations between law-enforcement officers and the residents they serve.
The events below are open to the people in the municipalities that the departments serve:
• Carroll Township Police will hold their event from 5 to 9 p.m. at Logan Park on Logan Road.
• Fairview Township Police will hold their celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. at Roof Park, 599 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland.
• Hellam Township Police will hold their celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barshinger Soccer Fields on Accomac Road.
• Newberry Township Police will host their event from 6 to 9 p.m. at Susquehanna Speedway, 690 York Road, York Haven.
• Northern York County Regional Police will hold their event from 5:30 to 8 p.m.at the Union Fire and Hose Co. on 30 E. Canal St. in Dover.
• Northeastern Regional Police will hold their event from 5 to 8 p.m.at Orendorf Elementary, 101 S. Hartman St, Manchester.
• North Hopewell Township Police will hold their celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. at Windy Brae Manor on Rehymers Hollow Road and Mount Olivet Road.
• Penn Township Police's celebration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Target, 31 Wilson Ave.
• Southern Regional Police will hold their event from 6 to 9 p.m. at the New Freedom Community Center, 150 E. Main St.
• Southwestern Regional Police will host their event from 6 to 9 p.m. at the rear of the Spring Grove Area C&MA Church, 213 N. Main St., Spring Grove.
• Springettsbury Township Police will host their event from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's School, 2945 Kingston Road.
• West Manchester Township Police will hold their event from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sunset Lane Park.
• West York Police will hold their event from 5 to 8 p.m. at Shelly Park at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Filbert Street.
• York Area Regional Police and Dallastown Borough will host a variety of activities from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dallastown Community Park.
• York City Police will hold various block parties from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. throughout the city.
The following city streets will be closed:
• The 200 block of East College Avenue, 5-8 p.m.
• The first block of North Broad Street, 4-8 p.m.
• The first block of South Penn Street, 3:30-9 p.m.
• The 100 block of North Pine Street, 5-8 p.m.
• The 300 block of South Pine Street, 6-9 p.m.
• The first block of East Boundary Avenue, 6-9 p.m.
• The 500 block of West King Street, 3-9 p.m.
Spring Garden Township Police will not be hosting an event this year because of prior commitments, however, the department anticipates hosting the event again next year.
