DEP to host public hearing on Brunner Island draft discharge permit

The state Department of Environmental Protection will host a hearing Monday to collect comments on the draft National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit issued to Brunner Island, the DEP said in a news release.
Brunner Island, a coal and natural gas-fired power plant, discharges treated industrial wastewater and cooling water to the Susquehanna River, according to the release.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Union Fire Co., 201 York St. in Manchester.
