- Police are searching for a Tayvaughn Chandler-Hope, who they say shot at a car last month.
- Police ask anyone who sees him to not approach him and call 911 immediately.
West Manchester Township Police are searching for a York City man they say is considered "armed and dangerous."
Police filed charges last month for Tayvaughn Chandler-Hope, alleging he fired a gun at a car in the township on June 25.
On Friday, police released a photo of Chandler-Hope and asked anyone who sees him not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
Charging documents describe Chandler-Hope as black, 5-feet-7, weighing 140 pounds.
Chandler-Hope, 18, of 263 W. Cottage Place, faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, prohibited possession of a firearm and recklessly endangering another person.
Allegations: West Manchester Township Police say Tayvaughn Chandler-Hope was sitting in the back seat of a car in the early morning hours of June 25, when the car he was in and a car behind him began passing and brake-checking each other.
That happened to the point where police allege Chandler-Hope's car stopped in the middle of the road and Chandler-Hope fired at the other car.
Police spoke to the victim about 1 p.m. on the day of the incident.
The victim explained that he went to the West Gate Inn for a beer, then left at about 2 a.m. He went to the White Dove car wash on West Market Street, then headed home by going west on West Market Street.
He said a vehicle approached him from behind and started tailgating him as he came up on East Berlin Road, police said.
The victim told police that the car passed him on the left, then brake-checked him, documents state. The victim then passed that car on the left and brake-checked them, meaning he applied his brakes suddenly, police said.
This continued up West Market Street, and police say the victim gave the driver the middle finger and yelled obscenities.
At one point, the vehicle, described as a blue Nissan Xterra, stopped across the road, blocking it, police said. He said that a passenger got out and displayed a handgun, documents state.
Shooting: The victim then tried driving around the vehicle on the left, and two other passengers got out and displayed handguns, according to court documents. He told police that he ducked down, drove past the vehicle and struck the driver's side door as he drove by, police said.
He said he heard gunshots right after he passed the car, documents state. He told police he wasn't familiar with the area but added that the vehicle must have stopped somewhere along West Market Street before the Route 30 bypass.
The victim told officials that when he got to the light at Route 616, the Xterra was behind him again, and he continued hearing gunshots, police said. He turned left onto Route 616 and then right onto Wolf's Church Road, where he said he believes he heard the majority of the shots that were fired, court documents state.
He came to a split in the road and turned off his car's lights, and police say he then went home.
Through investigation, police were able to determine that Chandler-Hope was sitting in the rear driver's side seat of the car, and that he fired a gun at the victim's car as it drove off, documents state.
Chandler-Hope was one of five people in the vehicle, police said, and he had just left a party that night.
Police were able to locate two gray pieces that appear to be from the inside of a vehicle door and a 9 mm shell casing in the area of Wolf's Church Road and Alwine Avenue, court documents allege. Chandler-Hope allegedly fired his gun about five times, police said.
Police say a neighbor near there found three 9 mm shell casings, and the casings were given to police.
Anyone with information on Chandler-Hope's whereabouts is asked to call West Manchester Township Police at 717-792-9514.
