The victim in Sunday's homicide in York City was killed by multiple sharp force injuries, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy performed Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital confirmed that the cause of death of Lester Cortes-Cotto, 22, was multiple sharp-force injuries, with the manner homicide.

 

York City Police said Sunday that Cortes-Cotto was assaulted in the area of East Maple Street. He later succumbed to his injuries at York Hospital, the coroner's office said.

Background: Police were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to the first block of East Maple Street for a report of shots fired, according to a news release.

Within minutes of that call, Cortes-Cotto, of the 400 block of South George Street,, arrived at York Hospital by private vehicle, where he died at 2:39 a.m., according to a news release by the coroner's office.

 

Investigators determined Cortes-Cotto was assaulted in the first block of East Maple Street and are treating his death as a homicide, according to police.

The department is is currently investigating potential suspects and anticipates charges to be filed in the next few days, according to a release from the department.
